services overview

We offer full spectrum irrigation design services including schematic design, master planning, design development, construction documentation, specification, estimating, bid negotiation, construction administration, GPS and more. We evaluate site conditions and develop professional irrigation plans and specifications to meet the needs of an individual project.

Program and Site Analysis
It is important for us to understand the landscape program to better assess how the site will be used. Understanding a site prior to system design rewards owners with savings during construction. Active recreation areas require greater attention to public safety. Not planning for safety may lead to glooming liabilities and additional costs for future retrofits. Landscape areas outside of public reach provide opportunities for labor and equipment savings.

Site analysis examines and records existing characteristics of the site and its surroundings in order to identify opportunities and constraints. We will typically examine the site location, size, zoning, natural features, man-made features, circulation, utilities, plant material, soil and climate in order to make informed design planning decisions.

Irrigation Design
Irrigation is needed in areas where natural rainfall is not sufficient to maintain turf and landscape for its intended purpose. Our water supply is essential to our survival. Where irrigation is necessary, we must design, install, maintain and manage the irrigation systems to insure maximum efficiency and uniform distribution. Specific criteria must be considered when designing an irrigation system. We analyze soil type, slope, plant types, root depth, microclimates, weather patterns, water quality, water pressure, water supply capacity and many other aspects of a project to insure appropriate design of each system.

Final irrigation design usually occurs as 3 phases. Schematic design, design development and construction documentation.

Construction Documents and Specifications
Construction documents consist of illustrative drawings and written specifications outlining the standards to be met for irrigation construction. Drawings are typically drafted by computer-aided design at real world coordinates. These drawings are then plotted at a specific scale appropriate for each project and become the illustrative component of the irrigation design requirements while specifications are the written form of design requirements pertaining to building materials, equipment and construction systems.
Construction Administration
Administration is an important part of a project. This includes responding to contractor RFI's, change order requests and acting as the owners representative to insure construction of the irrigation system is in compliance with the contract documents. Effective administration will help mitigate owner/contractor disputes by insuring the construction stays on track with project goals and requirements.
